Linda Ann Wheeler was born July 1, 1953. She was born in Sanger California to Robert and Jane Cosgrave. Linda grew up in Fresno California on the family fruit farm. Attended Northwest Christian College in Eugene Oregon, where she received a Bachelors degree in Christian Education.
She raised her 3 daughters with husband Stan Ashbrook in Dufur Oregon. She later moved to The Dalles in 2012. Linda married Grant Wheeler in 2018 and moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Grant and Linda returned to The Dalles in October of 2022 following retirement. Linda worked with youth at Turner Christian Church and later The Dalles Christian Church. Homemaker while her girls were growing up. Taught preschool in Dufur and later at Head start in The Dalles. Linda attended First Christian Churches in Sanger California, Turner Oregon, Dufur Oregon and The Dalles Oregon. She later attended Golden Isles Christian Church in Brunswick Georgia and Creekside Christian Church in Jacksonville Florida.
Linda is survived by Husband-Grant Wheeler, Daughters - Julie Ashbrook Deering (Todd), Deanna Sudan (Loren), Andrea Vannata (Louis). Step-Sons , Clifford Wheeler, Caleb Wheeler, Clayton Wheeler. Grandchildren- Daxon Deering, Aira Deering, Leo Sudan, Ella Sudan, Allie Sudan, Brooks Vannata, and Callan Vannata and Alexander Wheeler. Sister Sue Buchholz. And preceded in death by Parents- Robert and Jane Cosgrave.

Glenn Dee Summers passed away at home with his wife, Ruth and son, Chris on March 8th, 2023.
He was born in 1941 to Hattie (Baugh) and William Bernhardt Summers at the edge of the Missouri Ozarks in Lamar, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri after completing the NROTC Marine Corps Officer’s Option program with degrees in Forest Management and Wildlife Management. His work life included District Forester, Superintendent of Union Pacific Railroad in Laramie and The Dalles.
In 1988, Glenn started his own business, River’s Bend Outfitters, a hunting and fishing guide operation. He was a member of the Oregon Hunter’s Association, Safari Club International, Mule Deer Foundation and Life Member of the National Rifle Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Glenn Survived polio in his younger years. During college, he became a Golden Gloves Champion. He was extensively active in the World Taekwondo Federation attaining numerous Black Belts and teaching and training other martial artists and youth for nearly 30 years in The Dalles and Portland area.
Glenn was a voracious reader of all types of literature. That, coupled with his outdoor interest, generated his free-lance outdoor writing and wildlife photography. Over four decades Glenn published dozens of articles of hunting and fishing magazines and wrote an outdoor column for both The Dalles Reminder and The Dalles Chronicle for over 10 years. He penned a novel, A Walk in the Woods and two hunting books, Tales of the Hunt and The Elk I missed and a few I didn’t.
Glenn is survived by his wife Ruth of The Dalles and his son Christopher Summers and his wife Kelly Manning of Portland and their children, Chancellor, Reece and Rylin; his daughter Lyndsey and husband John Resnick of Ohio and their children Maxwell and Liberty.
Please help Glenn’s family celebrate his remarkable life on April 22nd, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at The Dalles Eagles Lodge. Food will be provided.

Kevin Ray Hutton, age 59, a resident of The Dalles, OR, passed away March 7, 2023. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
In the early morning hours of March 1st, 2023, Frank James Buchanan of The Dalles, Oregon died at the age of 63. Frank was the youngest of six children born to Ethel and Raymond Buchanan in Baker City, Oregon on April 1st, 1959. Frank spent most of his life in The Dalles, Oregon and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1977. He worked for Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation District for over 35 years, where he proudly cared for the community’s parks. Frank loved to spend time with his children and throughout his life enjoyed many outdoor activities, including fishing and hunting. Frank was a kind man with a quiet sense of humor, he had many lifelong friends who supported him until his final days.
Frank is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel, his father, Raymond, his brothers, Larry and Doyle, and his sisters, Adelia and Delila. Frank is survived by his sister Bernie, his three children, Trevor, Ciara and Shaela, and many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
Celebration of life will be held at The Dalles Civic Auditorium on his birthday, April 1st, 2023 at 11am.

Bill Franklin passed away on February 16, 2023, at 74 years old. Bill was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina and was the youngest son of Audrey and Arlon Franklin. Bill spent the majority of his life living in Tygh Valley, Oregon.
Bill graduated from South Wasco County Union High School and then worked at the Tygh Valley Timber Company, for various ranchers in the area and later worked for Cody Logging and Construction on rock crushers, becoming a foreman. He then worked for Coats Construction and Babler Bros Construction.
He had a gruff exterior but was very kind and loving. Bill was a hard worker and extremely generous. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and canning. Each year he started various vegetables to share with his family and friends. Bill often would say “Boy Howdy”, “You got that right” and “All we can do is the best we can do.”
Bill had one daughter Elizabeth Slotterbeck, one granddaughter Mikayla Phillips and one great-granddaughter Eliza Phillips-Hensley. His siblings are Jack Franklin, Jim Franklin, and Geraline Olp. We will all miss Bill dearly, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Audrey and Arlon Franklin.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 11 am at the Tygh Valley Cemetery. A potluck gathering at the old Tygh Valley Grade School will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate assistance with funeral costs.

Jeffery Dean Zeigler Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2023, at his home in The Dalles, Oregon. He Was 70 years old.
Jeff was born on September 30th, 1952, in Harvey, North Dakota, the third youngest of six children to Felix Owen Zeigler and Gloria Ardella (Volk) Zeigler. The Family moved to Anaconda Montana in 1956 and then to The Dalles in 1958. Jeff attended elementary and High School (Class of 1970) in The Dalles.
Over the years, Jeff worked at The Dalles Cherry Growers, as an aide in the kitchen of Columbia Park Hospital (now CGCC), as a brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad and retired after 22 years as a warehouse supervisor for Coca-Cola in The Dalles.
In 1976, Jeff met the love of his life, Dichera (Brace) Zeigler. They were married on March 3, 1978, and together, with their daughter, Chelsy, they began a loving family at their home in The Dalles. Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family fishing, camping, and crabbing at Waldport. Many summer days were spent at the “bass hole” in Rufus. He had a talent for woodworking and created unique birdhouses that he gifted to friends and family. Music was a passion of Jeff’s, he enjoyed listening to his vast collection of vinyl albums and playing guitar at “music night” in his garage with his three brothers and good friends.
Jeff treasured his family. He was a loving, caring husband to Dichera, and a devoted father to Chelsy. The bond with his siblings was like no other. Even when the miles separated them, they were always close to his heart. He enjoyed being an uncle and watching his nieces and nephews grow into young adults. He cherished becoming a grandfather 20 years ago and valued the time he spent with his three grandsons.
Jeff in survived by his wife, Dichera, daughter Chelsy and son-in-law Bryan Rogers and grandsons Benjamin, Samuel and Ely of The Dalles, his sisters and their husbands, Teryl (Darrell) Dafoe of Colorado Springs CO, Peggy (Steve) William of Westcliffe CO, brother Robbie (Caroline) Zeigler of The Dalles, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria (Volk) Zeigler (October 1, 1973), Felix Zeigler (September 30, 1988), brother Terry Zeigler (April 3, 2000) and brother Charles (Charlie) Zeigler (November 28, 2019).
